My First Book Reading!

Once I'd written the book, I had the sense of being done, of having fulfilled promises and potential. It was such an accomplished feeling! But as the months of editing dragged on (as I was also healing a broken leg), and the publicity ramped up, it dawned on me that finishing the book was only the beginning of this journey. Now I have to represent my words publicly. It is time to step out of my sweat pants and into something fresh and writerly, to own my story, come what may.

Forgiveness is a hard concept to grasp and an even harder one to put into practice. Once we stop thinking of it as some elusive state of being to aspire to and start seeing it as the action-word that it is—requiring our commitment and labor—perhaps then we can begin removing our heavy storylines from our shoulders and leave them in the last decade where they belong.
